Learn more about Busch
Founded by Ernst Busch in Mannheim, Germany. Originally the company produced pyrotechnic items.
Due to increasing legal safety requirements for fireworks this business became too difficult, production was discontinued. The company moved to the smaller town of Viernheim (next to Mannheim). An injection molding machine was acquired for producing all kinds of plastic items for externally processed orders as well as for the development of »own« products.
At the Toy Fair in Nuremberg Busch exhibited for the first time and presented an airplane replica of the ME 109. This was the beginning of the model scale business.
Distribution of the English »Timpo« figures added sales and established the brand »Busch« in the toy market.
Busch started production of accessories for electrified model trains: Deep drawn scenery parts, scattering material, grass mats with realistic looking grass, sand and little stones, a miniature water pump, ship replicas, street lamps in 1:87 scale as well as an overhead circuit system.
Hans Vallen who was responsible for purchase and sales as well as for the product development since 1956, became partner in the company.
»Toporama« (a model landscape designed in detail, put on a role) was »the« attraction at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. In the same year the factory building became too small. A bigger estate was purchased and a modern factory plant was built.
Completely new product ideas were added: a theatre for the Punch and Judy show, model gliders made of Styrofoam, and the first series of cassette players with cassettes for children. »Tippigolf« (a miniature golf table game) as well as 3-D-Posters were included in the range of products.
Removal into the new office and production buildings.
At that time Busch presented the biggest collection of stories and adventures on disc records and cassettes (more than 250 titles).
The former owner family Busch left and the company was taken over by the Vallen family completely.
Busch again went into new directions when issuing electronic experiment kits which in addition served as basis for the launch of Busch micro electronic items to be used for the model landscape.
For the girls Busch presented »Karina«, a 29 cm fashion doll with her own fashion and accessory collection.
»Busch Data Service« developed an inventory control system, perfectly dedicated for the specialized toy trade.
Busch took over the insolvent »Praliné« company which produced collectible cars. The company had to be completely restructured, the production reorganized, quality improvements were conducted in all sectors, and the product line thoroughly worked over and sold from now on under the brand »Busch«.
DIY collection »Made by you« was launched. Detailed instructions show basic sewing techniques for making handbags, cushions etc.
A modern laser cut department was set up in Schoenheide, Saxony, in the East of Germany, the location of the former »Praliné« company. Most of the Busch model building items and, of course, the cars are produced in this production site with own tool making, injection molding machines and printing department.
At Nuremberg Toy Fair Busch presented a new technology: a mine locomotive with built-in magnet for optimal contact pressure.
